There is nothing worse than a sick or injured child. A child is innocent, and they don’t deserve to be sick. However, there are times when a child will become sick and have a major disease that could threaten their lives. If this happens then you need to help them get through it the best way that you can. One way that you can do this is by getting them involved in childhood leukemia support groups.
The first thing that you can do is talk. Don’t talk about their illness or anything negative, try to keep the conversations light and about topics that interest them. When you talk about their illness it brings it to the surface. The last thing you want to do is be a constant reminder that they are sick. If you are, then they won’t want to see you.
Give them activities
There will be times when they are feeling well and can do more. In these times give them activities they can do. For example, if they like to play an instrument, bring that instrument to them and let them practice. If they like to read or tell stories give them paper and a computer to do this as well.
Give them new clothes
Dress them up in clean and fun clothes. When they are sick, they are confined to a bed and have to hear a hospital gown. However, when they are feeling well you want to get them dressed in fun and exciting clothes. Get them a cool shirt or a pair of shoes. When they wear them, they are motivated to stay better and do more things. When they are sick, they have something positive to look forward to.
Don’t try to be someone or something you are not. Be yourself, be normal and don’t play the acting game. If you can do this then the rest will fall into place where it was meant to be.
